Background:
‘Waste solutions for Circular Economy’ is supported by a joint climate action program- Mitigation Action Facility, formerly known as NAMA (Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action) Facility-set up by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) of the United Kingdom (UK), European Commission (EU Commission) and the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). This is a 5-year project that will operate in 5 lighthouse locations- Patna, Varanasi, State of Goa, Bengaluru & Tiruchirappalli with local and state governments as partners. GIZ will act as the NAMA Support Organisation (NSO) for the project and will be responsible for the delivery of funds, services, and financial and administrative management of the project. The NSP is divided into 2 phases of implementation. Phase 1 will operate for 1 year and phase 2 for 4 years. As part of the project, GIZ India intends to hire services from able and willing firms to act as implementing partners for promoting low-carbon waste management solutions and building capacities of the various stakeholders involved in the waste management and waste value chain in Patna.
Objectives of the Assignment
• Work Package 1: Stakeholder Mapping and Feasibility Assessment of the Kankarbagh Circle.
• Work Package 2: Develop and enhance the capacities of waste workers and other related sanitation staffs, volunteers, and officials in Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) on low-carbon waste management.
• Work Package 3: Organise awareness programs in schools, colleges, RWAs, government institutions, and other Bulk Waste Generators (BWG) in Kankarbagh and other intervention areas under the PMC on source segregation and low-carbon waste management.
• Work Package 4: Awareness programs in Kankarbagh and other intervention areas under the PMC on source segregation, home composting, and low-carbon waste management.
• Work Package 5: Conduct Public/Community awareness campaign on low-carbon waste management solutions.
• Work Package 6: Informal sector mapping and their integration in Kankarbagh and other intervention areas under the PMC.
